I shot Leslie and Devan’s engagement session on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk this weekend. It’s such a throwback to the old school Florida. I love it. They were totally relaxed in front of the camera and I had a great time. They’ll be getting married at the Ritz Carlton this fall.

I love the light in the morning so of course I get excited when a couple is willing to get up early and do a morning engagement session. I met Michelle & Nick out in the Everglades where they quickly figured out that I had no idea where I was going. No matter, we found some pretty spots anyway. Then we finished the session with a walk down Las Olas in downtown Fort Lauderdale. And warning, Michelle has ridiculously beautiful eyes.

Elena & Chris | Deering Estate Miami Engagement Session

The Deering Estate is an absolutely beautiful place for a romantic engagement session. Ely & Chris did not need much prompting to get romantic for the camera. And yes, they do hold weddings at this place too. Wouldn’t this be a cool spot to get married?

I spent last weekend with Tarun and Kavita’s family friends while they got officially engaged. Following the engagement ceremony on Saturday, Tarun’s parents hosted an engagement party on Sunday. What a good time I had! The dancing they are doing is called Bhangra and I believe that’s how K & T met.

Kavita and Tarun became officially engaged last weekend amongst friends and family at Tarun’s family home. I was there to document it. While I didn’t understand the significance of most of Saturday’s religious ceremony, it was very clear that it wasn’t just two people getting engaged, but two families joining to become one. It was truly a lovely ceremony and everyone was so gracious and welcoming. The following day Tarun’s parents hosted an Asian-themed lunch reception to celebrate the engagement, but that’s a topic for another blog post. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next May.

Could these two be any cuter? I met up with Kavita and Tarun at the fabulous Setai Hotel in South Beach. If you’re ever down there, be sure to stop by and sample one of their delicious drinks. Kavita and I both tried the Passion Fruit and Chili Pepper Martini – yum! Now I don’t normally drink at a client session (or wedding) but we had to buy drinks so we could shoot there. Then we headed to Miami’s Design District and finished the evening on Key Biscayne. They were so easy to photograph – relaxed, in love and wearing super cute clothes. I think Tarun’s shoes might be some of the coolest I’ve ever seen and I do love my shoes!

I think the best engagement sessions reflect the personalities of the couple. Libby & Jon love the outdoors, love the water. They even got engaged in the Bahamas! So in the spirit of that, we rocked out some local parks, the beach and their favorite marina in West Palm Beach. Fun, right? I know I had a good time.

Shannon and Jeff are awesome. They’re fun, beautiful people that obviously adore each other, which makes my job easy. We walked around downtown Fort Lauderdale and then finished at the airport. It was a fun day and I’m loving the images we produced together. There’s a few key shots that I can’t show yet because they are using them for their “Save the Dates”.
