A Wedding at the Deering Estate

Last month I tagged along with my friends Kyle and Seba for a gorgeous wedding at the Charles Deering Estate in Miami. All of the images below were shot on my Hasselblad 500cm using Fuji 400h and Tri-x 400. I love shooting this camera. I love the square format, the sound it makes when you press the shutter, the unique character it gives photos. Simply said, it has an old soul.

Sometimes you just want to tell the story. Nothing posed, nothing scripted. I love a beautiful portrait as much as anyone, but what gets my heart racing and the tears running is the story. This is the tale of Katie and Josh and the wedding they shared with family and friends on St. Patrick’s Day.

South Beach Wedding | Laurie + Brett

Laurie and Brett are about as rad as it gets. They got engaged at Coachella. They got married in South Beach. They went to South Africa on their honeymoon where Brett had a jam session with a local band. Rad, right? If that wasn’t enough I also got to work with one of my favorite planners, Kasey D Weddings and my friend Drew W flew down from Denver to shoot with me. Drew is an awesome photographer and some of the shots below are his.

Lauren and Tyler’s Engagement at Riverbend Park

I often get asked at weddings why I shoot film. Simply, because it feeds my soul. As cheesy as that sounds, it’s the best explanation of how it makes me feel. Combine that with a sweet-as-can-be-couple and a big fluffy dog named Bear and I’m in my happy place.
