Just wanted to share this candid of childhood wonder at a small aquarium in a restaurant. He was entertained throughout dinner, even naming the Daddy Fish and the Mommy Fish. It’s ordinary moments like this that I absolutely love to capture.

Tookie loves anything to do with trains, so getting to see some real train tracks up close was very exciting for him

One Saturday Morning

The sunrise was really amazing last Saturday, so as soon as I looked out the window and saw it, I got Tookie dressed and we headed out to the beach. I thought I’d get some great shots of him on the beach in front of the lit up sky, but Mr. Boy had other ideas and screamed the entire time we were on the beach. So I had to settle for just the sunrise – those rays were just too cool not to take a picture.

Finally at 8, our favorite breakfast place opened and Tookie dug into his pancakes (“cakes”) and bacon. I was happy to get a seat in the back by the big windows. I think they’re used to me bringing my camera in by now

After breakfast we walked across the street to the park so little man could slide and climb to his heart’s content. He even cheered on a girls T-Ball game!

Finally we headed to the pier for some more photo opps for mommy, and bird watching for Tookie.

He called this one a duck and quacked at it. Quacking is a new favorite. Poor pelican didn’t know what to make of him.

Of course, more climbing was a must!

And what’s more fun than chasing birds yelling “Tweet, tweet”

Thomas is the cheeky one

If you have a little boy, you must be familiar with Thomas the train. Tookie got 2 sets of the wooden tracks with Thomas and James from grandma and grandpa for Christmas. He had a few of the smaller ones before but since getting the tracks, he’s obsessed. James is the favorite (we think); the only one he calls by name. Thomas and the few others he has, he just calls “choo choos”. I love how creative he is with setting up the tracks. He takes them apart and puts them back together several times a day and it is so cool to see how many different combinations he comes up with. He loves Cars too, so they go on the tracks as well. There’s nothing like watching your small boy completely engrossed in playtime. I hope I’ve captured some of that in these photos. Thank you grandma & grandpa for such a wonderful toy!

Family Fun with Grandma & Grandpa

So what do you do when grandma & grandpa come to visit from Colorado? Make them dress up and embarass them on the world wide web of course! A quick trip to Wal-mart and we had our costumes. First we took a few pics at a classic old Florida motel before heading to what I thought was a deserted beach. Well, a couple of teen boys pulled in at the same time and God only knows what they thought of us! Oh we laughed so hard and had so much fun. And aren’t my parents’ expressions perfect?

Breakfast with Grandma & Grandpa

I’m currently in the middle of a 365 project with my son, which means I’m taking at least one photo a day of him for a whole year. Some days I only take one shot, some days its several hundred. But I’m trying to document the little moments, the real life stuff, rather than just the pretty portrait sessions (of course those will be there too!) Doing a 365 is a lot fun, a lot work, but a good exercise as a photographer because it forces you to take photos in less than ideal lighting and locations.

My parents are in town visiting from Colorado this week, so Tookie has had a lot of fun playing with them all day. Thanks Grandma & Granpa for all the fun, the train, and the yummy sushi dinner last night!
