Jill & Brett Are Engaged | South Florida Wedding Photographer

Jill & Brett’s engagement session almost didn’t happen because of . . . well, you know, rain. But that’s South Florida in the summer for you. So we brought umbrellas, found some cover, and worked it out! And we laughed and laughed. I should record these sessions, because some of these conversation are too funny not to share! Thank you guys for being awesome, gorgeous and funny! I am one lucky girl. Seriously. Best. Clients. Ever.

Fred Astaire Jupiter Grand Opening | South Florida Photographer

In July I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening Party at Fred Astaire Jupiter‘s brand new dance studio. The new studio is much larger with high ceilings and beautiful windows. It was a great event where the pro teachers at the studio put on a mini-show to demonstrate the classic ballroom and latin dances. The highlight of the night was the attendance of Dancing with the Stars’ Tony Dovolani. Tony shared some of his experiences on the show and then taught the group how to “move their hips”. It was quite the treat and Tony is the ultimate gentleman. If possible, he’s even nicer in person than he seems on the show.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to dance the Tango, the Samba, the Waltz, or any of the other ballroom & latin dances, there’s no better place in South Florida, than Fred Astaire Jupiter. And you never know, you might just run into Tony Dovolani, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, or Corky Balass. They’ve all been known to drop in and teach a lesson or two. My good friends Warren & Babette, who own the studio, are also opening one in Boynton Beach, so if you’re a little further south, that will soon be the place to go.

And don’t forget, they offer a Wedding Package, so you can look like a pro during your first dance as husband and wife!

I can’t believe my baby is going to be 3 in less than 2 months! He’s such an independent little man these days and barely needs my help with anything. In fact, he helps me! I’m so proud of him and so thankful that I have a job that allows me to be home with him almost everyday.

Baby Makes Three | West Palm Newborn Photographer

Last month I had the honor of photographing my friend’s (and fellow photographers) brand new baby boy. Rebekah & Ben Hood are a fabulous husband and wife wedding photography team and their brand new little angel is the sweetest little boy. He’s got awesome hair and the cutest cheeks you’ve ever seen. We started with some shots at their home and then headed to Babies ‘R’ Us to attempt a crazy idea I had without getting kicked out of the store (success!). We had plans to continue at a local park, but the crazy South Florida weather had other ideas. But yay for me, because I get to hang with them again when we do the second half of their session soon. Love you guys! Thanks for your patience during my blogging hiatus.

I commandeered one of those huge ladders to stand on to get this shot, so Ben had to go distract the sales lady so we wouldn’t get busted

And here’s that crazy weather I mentioned . . . it was almost hurricane-like.

Dave & Diann Engagement, Part 2 | South Florida Wedding Photographer

I seriously have the best clients! Dave and Diann were so easy to work with; laid back, down to earth and totally cute with each other! They are getting married at the beautiful new W hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, so we took some shots in their amazing “lobby”, which they call the Living Room. It’s such a cool space and the entire hotel is absolutely beautiful.

I told them to look at each other and discuss who’s the bigger dork Pretty dorktastic right?

Dave wasn’t so sure about doing the dip, but I think he rocked it!

This one makes me laugh. Vegetables or Cigarettes?

I love photographing families and capturing the uniqueness that each family brings. And doing sessions at Blowing Rocks in Jupiter doesn’t hurt for capturing some crazy, dramatic photos. What a gorgeous place it is . . . I feel so lucky to live here. Mike & Meghan – we loved seeing you guys!! Last Saturday we attended a delightful Birthday Party for one of my favorite 4 year olds. The Young at Art Children’s Museum is such a fun location for a child’s birthday party so for all of you Ft. Lauderdale readers I would highly recommend it. If not for a party, than just a cool way to spend an afternoon with your little ones. Happy Birthday Isabelle! We love you.

Magic Light | Jupiter Florida Photographer

There are places where the light has a magical quality that cannot be described. And for me, finding one of these places is like letting a two year-old loose in Toys ‘r” Us for the first time. Feelings of giddiness, awe, excitement – it’s like being let in on some special secret. I often wonder what the people behind me think when I slam on my brakes because I’ve spotted one of these magical places out of the corner of my eye as I’m speeding down the road. This empty lot is just down the street from my house and I’ve tucked it away before as a potential location for a session but yesterday when we drove by there was something so amazing in the warmth. Maybe tomorrow it will go back to being just a cool spot for a session, but yesterday, it was magic.

One of the ladies I photographed during the Fred Astaire Jupiter Showcase also hired me to take some studio shots of her and two of the professional dancers from the studio. We had a blast! Let me tell you, it was hard to get these fierce looks because we were having so much fun Gail, Warren & Vladi – you were awesome!! And special thanks to Gabi for helping with the poses. A dancer I most definitely am not, but I sure love watching it! Gail had someone take video of the session, so I’ll post more once I get the video edited.
